project: spaceplanting
      bioTube

The bioTube is a plant growth habitat that we are constructing at the Science Center Xperiment Huset. Plants will be cultured in a hydroponic system (specifically aeroponically which means misting the roots). Web-cams and electronic sensors will be constantly monitoring the growth of the plants and the micro-environmental conditions inside the bioTube habitat. Students will have access to data and time-lapse photos via the web.

the bioTube shell is removable with a top suspended rope and pulley system. Here is a picture of the bioTube separated and a close up of two of the basil plants.
